Section 1. El Malei Rachamim

Translation of El Malei Rachamim

O G‑d, full of compassion, Who dwells on high, grant true rest upon the wings of the Shechinah (Divine Presence), in the exalted spheres of the holy and pure, who shine as the resplendence of the firmament, to the souls of the victims of terror on Simchas Torah who have gone to their [supernal] world, for charity has been donated in remembrance of their souls; may their place of rest be in Gan Eden. Therefore, may the All-Merciful One shelter them with the cover of His wings forever, and bind their souls in the bond of life. The Lord is their heritage; may they rest in their resting-place in peace; and let us say: Amen.

Section 2. Psalm 23

Read Psalm 23 in English

A song of David. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He causes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside still waters.

He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Even as I walk in the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You set a table before me in the presence of my adversaries; You anointed my head with oil; my cup overflows.

May only goodness and kindness pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for length of days.

Section 3. Psalm 20

Psalm 20 in English

For the leader. A psalm of David
May the LORD answer you in time of trouble
the name of Jacob’s God keep you safe
May He send you help from the sanctuary
and sustain you from Zion
May He receive the tokens of all your meal offerings
and approve your burnt offerings. Selah
May He grant you your desire
and fulfill your every plan
May we shout for joy in your victory
arrayed by standards in the name of our God
May the LORD fulfill your every wish
Now I know that the LORD will give victory to His anointed
will answer him from His heavenly sanctuary
with the mighty victories of His right arm
They [call] on chariots, they [call] on horses
but we call on the name of the LORD our God
They collapse and lie fallen
but we rally and gather strength
O LORD, grant victory
May the King answer us when we call

Section 5. Mi Sheberach - Prayer for the Soldiers

May the One who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob,
bless the soldiers of the Israel Defense Forces,
who stand guard over our land and the cities of our God,
from the border of Lebanon to the desert of Egypt,
and from the Great Sea to the Aravah,
on land, in the air, and on the sea.
May Hashem cause the enemies who rise up against us
to be struck down before them.
May the blessed Holy One preserve and rescue our soldiers
from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness,
and may God send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May [Hashem] cause our enemies to submit before our soldiers,
and grant them salvation and crown them with victory.
And may there be fulfilled for them the verse:
“For it is Hashem your God,
who goes with you to battle your enemies for you
to save you,”
and let us say, Amen.
