About the Campaign:
Our 20th year at USC was supposed to be a chance to celebrate. Celebrate our growth. Celebrate new achievements for Jewish life at USC.
It was barely 10 months ago when we celebrated our largest event ever; when Shabbat 1000 drew over 1,200 excited students for a celebration of Jewish identity and pride. Just a few short weeks later the world began to change.
You persevered. Our students, our supporters, our community: You helped us find new ways to connect, and new ways to show love and support. Shabbat and holiday meals to go, individual support, classes on ZOOM. Chabad is family, and that doesn’t stop just because many of our students are physically distant.
While so many student resources cut back, with your support we adapted and expanded. For Shabbat and holidays we had limited-capacity outdoor-and-distanced in-person services and dinners, and most often we were at or near capacity. We offered Shabbat To-Go and Holiday To-Go packages for pickup each Friday, as well as for delivery to students in quarantine, and hundreds of packages were picked up over the course of the semester. Each meal – whether in person or to-go – was a way of letting our students know that they are not alone. Each one was a statement of love and support from all of you to each and every student in need.
For those not living near campus, we created a weekly ZOOM lecture, in addition to a number of online weekly classes. Speakers this semester included Holocaust survivors, business leaders, Israel’s Consul General, and more. Beyond the live audiences, the lectures garnered thousands of views after the fact online.
And just a few days ago on the first night of Chanukah, USC President Carol Folt joined us on Zoom for a Chanukah celebration bringing together Trojans of all ages from all over.
It’s only with your help that we’ve gotten this far. And we’re going to need your help to continue.
So many of our friends and supporters are struggling right now. If you are privileged to still be in a position to help, we need you to dig deeper than ever before. Because now, more than ever, we need to find a way. And now, more than ever, we need your help to grow, to build, and to continue to be here for every student who turns to us.
Please partner with us! Please consider joining our monthly Circle of Givers to make an impact on Jewish life at USC all year long. Or make a one-time year-end gift to the Chabad Jewish Student Center @ USC in continued support of our students. Right now, all contributions of any size will be matched by our generous lead donors – up to $250,000.
